Abnormal Pap Smear Evaluation - WCHCP
treats the patient with an abnormal pap smear. This may require
repeating the pap smear, colposcopic examination (using a large
microscope to see the cervix) and/or surgical treatment.
Annual Exams/Pap Smears - Since the advent
of the pap smear 60 years ago, the incidence of cervical cancer
has dramatically decreased. Part of the annual examination includes
performing the pap smear, breast, abdominal, pelvic and sometimes
rectal examination. Depending on a patient’s history, thyroid,
heart, lung and skin examinations may be done. Blood pressure, temperature
and weight measurements are taken during the annual examination.
If necessary, referral to a patient’s primary care physician
will be done.
Breast Care - Breast examinations are
part of an annual examination. However, a patient may have a concern
regarding her breast (e.g. breast mass, nipple discharge) that needs
attention. WCHCP provides for evaluation, treatment and diagnosis
of breast problems. Patients are referred for mammograms, breast
ultrasounds and/or biopsies.
Self breast examinations are taught.
Family Planning - All types of contraception
(birth control) options are offered at WCHCP including permanent
sterilization (“a tubal”). These contraception options
include but are not limited to the Depo shot, pills, rings, patches,
diaphragm fitting and IUD placement.
Gynecological Care - WCHCP is a full service
gynecological provider for all aged females. Care includes but is
not limited to treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, abnormal
vaginal bleeding, vaginitis, uterine fibroids, endometriosis and
other gynecological conditions from puberty to post menopausal females.
Incontinence Care - As women age, incontinence
(leaking urine) can be a problem. WCHCP can diagnose and treat the
various type of incontinence both surgically and medically. Pessaries
(a plastic device to limit incontinent episodes) are fitted. Urodynamic
evaluation will soon be available.
Infertility Care - Fifteen percent of
couples have difficulty conceiving or getting pregnant. WCHCP provides
evaluation and treatment of basic infertility problems. If necessary,
patients are referred to high risk infertility specialists (endocrinologists)
to help in conceiving. Once pregnant, patients are welcomed back
to WCHCP for the continuation of their pregnancy and delivery.
Menopausal Treatment - With the baby boomers
coming of age, many women are entering the menopausal period or
“change of life.” Dr. Hannah does evaluation and treatment
of menopausal symptoms. Problems that accompany menopause such as
osteoporosis are addressed. Multiple treatment options are available
for the treatment of menopausal symptoms.
Major Hospital Surgery - Dr. Hannah provides
major gynecological surgeries to treat specific conditions. These
include but are not limited to hysterectomies, tubal and ovarian
procedures. Surgical correction of incontinence problems can be
treated. If gynecological cancer is detected Dr. Hannah refers these
patients to a special female cancer doctor, but is still involved
in their care.
Minor Hospital Surgery - Some gynecological
surgeries require only a short same day hospital admission. Dr.
Hannah’s services include minor surgeries involving the uterus,
cervix, vagina, ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Minor in-office surgery - Some gynecological
problems can be treated with minor in-office surgery. These include
some biopsies of the uterine lining, vulva, cervix and skin. If
necessary, these patients may also require in hospital surgery.
Non-Stress Tests - Later in pregnancy,
this test is used to test for fetal well-being. This involves placing
a monitor around the abdomen of the mother-to-be and monitoring
the fetal heart beat. Dr. Hannah then interprets the test and decides
if additional monitoring is necessary.
Pregnancy Care - From conception through
the postpartum care, WCHCP provides complete pregnancy care for
the low risk and some high risk patients. Pregnancy care for women
with twins is also provided. Dr. Hannah partners with high risk
specialists to provide complete care for some high risk patients.
Primary Care Services - Limited primary
care services are provided. These include treatment of urinary and
respiratory tract infections. Cholesterol, blood pressure, colorectal
screening and glucose screening are provided. Referrals to primary
care physicians are provided as needed.
Ultrasound - Basic obstetrical ultrasound
services are provided. These include diagnosis of the number of
fetuses, position, fluid checks and checks for fetal viability.
The targeted ultrasound is done at the hospital. Limited gynecological
ultrasound services are also provided by Dr. Hannah.
